Placenta Encapsulation

Consuming your placenta may provide valuable support for mothers adjusting to the physical and emotional challenges of caring for a newborn while aiding in recovery from childbirth, regardless of the type of birth. Although research on placenta consumption is limited, many women report significant benefits during the postpartum period!

*Note: Placenta services are not considered booked until order form is submitted and confirmed. Local pick up and delivery available for Central Kenai Peninsula.

Primary Benefits Experienced by Postpartum People

  • Improved Mood

  • Increased energy levels

  • Boosted milk supply

  • Reduced bleeding

  • Hormone regulation, reducing risk of postpartum mood disorders

  • Quicker healing and recovery

The Process

Once you have delivered your placenta at your place of birth, you will double bag it and store on ice or keep refrigerated until pick up. After pickup, your placenta will then be cleaned, removing the cord, excess membranes and blood. Next, the placenta is steamed until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees ensuring no harmful bacteria remain. You can choose whether or not to add lemon, ginger, and cayenne as is the Traditional Chinese Medicine way, promoting heat and healing in your body. The placenta is then cut into strips and dehydrated until completely dry. Once dried, it can then be ground and placed into capsules. Capsules will be put into a glass jar and delivered to your doorstep with recommendations for usage.

Placenta encapsulation services are available for local pick up and delivery (Central Peninsula). Services outside of this area provided on a case-by-case basis. More information can be found on the placenta order form or by contacting Delissa.
